The default Mailbox size when creating a new mailbox is 40MB but this isn’t much when you start receiving large attachments or you leave messages on the server for long periods of time. If you let your mailbox become full then senders will receive ‘over quota‘ bounce messages and you will not receive anymore emails until the issue has been rectified. We have no automatic mechanism (Webmail and the Account Manager > Email settings will however show current mailbox usage) to tell you when this has occurred so it’s really up to you to make sure you have a mailbox that is suffiencient for your needs.
Increasing the mailbox size
We now allow the maximum size of a mailbox to be 2GB but you most likely will need to buy more mailbox space to achieve this (see below).
1.) To increase your mailbox size based on your current allocation you need to goto your Account Manager under Domains > Email settings
The mailbox quota figures at the bottom will show you if you have any available free space to allocate to existing or more mailboxes. For this example we are increasing the amanda@ mailbox from 40MB to 200MB.
2.) Click on the receipient name in the list to edit the mailbox settings.
If the maximum mailbox size allows then you can increase the mailbox size as required. Here we are increasing from 40MB to 200MB so therefore using another 160MB of the unused mailbox quota.
3.) Enter the new mailbox capacity in the Size (MB) field.
4.) Click ‘Save changes‘ and the new size is now set.

To buy more mailbox space please go to Virtualnames and click on the Upgrade button at the top. Once you get to the upgrade options look for the section that is titled ‘Add Features to existing accounts‘ then select the 10 POP3 mailboxes. For every 10 mailboxes you add you also add 400MB of mailbox space.
